Get Well Wishes

I needed a few more cards for my stash of 'last minute' cards and decided to make a get well card.  I used the sketch from Stamping 411 to get me started.  Here's the sketch...

and here's my card...

I also made a birthday card for one of my best friends using this layout.  The only difference is on the label, I cut out and pasted the numbers 2 & 9 from the DSP Play Date, since she's celebrating her 29th birthday (again!)  It's the most amazing thing, I'm a year older than her, but she is turning 29 this week and I will be 29 next month.  Math never was our best subject ;-)

Card Recipe: Cardstock-old olive, so saffron, chocolate chip, Play Date & tempting turquoise DSP, Ink-versamark, so saffron, and tempting turquoise, Stamp Sets- Butterfly Prints, and Word Play, Accessories- decorative label, scallop circle, scallop border, 1" circle and 3/4 circle punches

Love is in the air...

Although June is the 'traditional' month of weddings, it seems like our part of the country prefers fall weddings. I was an August bride and it was HOT!, so I can see why brides would choose fall for their special day. I never seem to have bridal shower or wedding cards on hand when I need them, so I decided to get a jump start on the fall weddings that we are invited to attend.  I used the sketch from Clean and Simple Stamping as a starting point. Here is the sketch...

I changed mine a little, and it is not the most CAS card I have ever made, but I decided that the card theme required a little extra dressing!  I also went through my 'stash' and used up some of my non SU goodies too. You will notice that while basically the same layout, my accessories have changed.

Card Recipe: Cardstock-certainly celery, perfect plum (also DSP), Ink-certainly celery, perfect plum
Stamp Set-Word Play, Accessories-very vanilla seam binding, basic rhinestones, vintage flower, 5 petal flower punch

Pajama Party!

I found more preschool pictures of my youngest (now going into 4th grade...) that somehow were missed while scrapbooking her preschool years.  This was the day that our class had a pajama party (learning the letter p) and her Daddy, Pat the Policeman, came to visit.  She was so proud to be able to show him off and loved it when he let the children try on his hat.
I saw the sketch at Stamping 411 and I decided to adapt it to a scrapbook layout and finally get those preschool pictures into their album! The pink top note will hold the journaling that will be done tomorrow.

Layout recipe: cardstock-very vanilla, Lap of Luxury DSP (ret.), ink-concord crush, stamp set-Delight in Life (ret.), accessories-pretty in pink satin ribbon, top note die, 5 petal flower punch, decorative label punch

Memory Lane

My introduction to paper crafting was after the birth of my oldest daughter. I received a free scrapbooking sample in the mail. I was hooked! Over the years, my interests have grown to include card making and other paper crafting, but I still love to scrapbook. I just don't always have enough time to keep up!  As I was going through some of my older photo CDs, I found these pictures of my youngest daughter when she was in preschool and realized that I had not scrapped them... So here is my walk down memory lane, and my submission to two challenges-Clean and Simple Stamping provided the sketch and the color combo came from Create, Ink!

Layout recipe: cardstock-island indigo, baja breeze, baja breeze & rich razzleberry DSP, ink-rich razzleberry, stamp set- Cute by the Inch, accessories-vintage flowers (ret.) and crumb cake seam binding, scallop circle punch, scallop trim border punch

Having a Little Fun!

Although I am a fairly new SU consultant, I have used their products for years.  As a matter of fact, the majority of my supplies are SU.  Because of this, I tend to post creations using SU.  But today, you are going to see something totally different!!!
I have become cyber friends with many very talented people through my blog and one of them created some digi drawings on her blog and wanted our opinion.  I loved them! Lisa is a super talented paper crafter and never ceases to amaze me with her skills. She also has a warped sense of humor, like me! So I decided to use one of her sketches to make an anniversary card for my DH.  He is also warped and will get a good laugh out of this card! (Sorry for the blurry pic on the inside of the card...)

Lisa's son, Mr. B, also has a blog with his sketches.  I feel the need to give a heads up to everyone that he is a male teenager, so don't go there expecting flowers, butterflies, and pretties.  His artwork (in my opinion) varies between edgy, macabre, and fun.  I chose this particular creature for my second card because some days, I know how he feels.  I hope you like these as well as I do, and be sure to visit their sites and share the love!!

Card recipe: cardstock-craft, very vanilla, stamp set- Notes and Details, ink-chocolate chip, soft suede, copics, accessories-chocolate chip corduroy buttons, Digi Art by Lisa Minckler

Buggy Birthday

I dug out one of my favorite retired SU stamp sets to make a card for three different challenges.  The sketch for my card came from Sketches by Carly.  I saw that SUO Challenges were doing kids cards and I went for the stamp set All Wrapped Up. I love all of the accessories you can put in the jar and bag stamps!! And since my girls love to catch bugs and other creatures during our summer vacation, I'm also entering this in Hand Stamped Sentiments Summer Fun challenge.

Card Recipe: cardstock-crumb cake, baja breeze, whisper white, and poppy parade DSP, ink-basic black, baja breeze, poppy parade (marker) stamp sets-All Wrapped Up and Sassy Suzie (also ret.), accessories- whisper white 1/4" grosgrain, silver brads

A Little Fun at Camp...

Every year, our family helps out at our local FOP Kid's Camp.  It is a weekend camp for boys (ages 9-12) to learn respect for law enforcement, self discipline, team work, and also have a lot of fun. I am in charge of the shopping each year and this year one of the co-chairs asked me to buy a whistle for him to use at camp. My oldest daughter smiled and said "We'll find you a pretty pink one." He laughed and said "No you won't."  So we were determined to prove him wrong. We looked all over Wal-Mart for a pink whistle but couldn't find one, so we ended up with a two-pack (one was black plastic and the other was silver metal).  As we were unloaded the groceries, I showed him the whistles.  He smiled at my daughter and said "I told you your Mom wouldn't buy a pink one."
After he left, my husband tells my daughters to 'bedazzle' it for him as a surprise. The girls painted the black whistle with pink nail polish and we added some of my crafty jewels and ribbon.  Here is her 'blinged out' whistle and a picture of the 'grateful' recipient.  He was a great sport and used the whistle the entire weekend, although he conveniently 'lost' the pretty ribbon the first day...
Check out the jeweled initial!
more rhinestones and a pretty little butterfly jewel...

This is another card from our recent class featuring items from the NEW catalog!  The inspiration for this card came from Sheryl's blog, so be sure to check out her awesome cards too! Guess I just had to step out of the comfort zone for a while!! TFL!

Sketches & Punches & Buttons

I was trying to come up with a title for today's card and kept thinking 'buttons'. Suddenly 'sketches & punches & buttons' popped in my head (you know...'lions and tigers and bears, Oh My!). Warped right? Anyway...I had a sketch from Stamping 411 that I have been looking at this week and had finally decided on a card when I saw the challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments was using buttons.  I decided to trade out my stamped flowers for buttons to tie the two together.

I tend to over-analyze most of my cards and this one is no exception.  Before I put it together I kept thinking that the large white space was too 'blank', so I dry embossed it.  After finishing the card I thought maybe it looked better with the 'blank' space. Hmm... I may go back tomorrow and try it out, but for now I'm going to be happy with what I have. I do love my little vase made w/ the ornament punch!

Card Recipe: cardstock- daffodil delight, whisper white, wild wasabi, and pacific point DSP from the brights pack, ink-wild wasabi, stamp set-Fabulous Phrases, accessories- ice cream parlor buttons (ret), elegant lines embossing folder, brights brads, ornament & scallop trim border punches

CAS Anniversary Card

I had a little extra time over the long weekend and today to check out some challenge sites. I found a great sketch at Clean and Simple Stamping and then saw that both SUO Challenges and Top Tip Tuesday had challenges for Anniversary cards.  I can always use a few more of these on hand so I decided to play along! I'm apologizing in advance for my crooked picture...

Card Recipe: cardstock-pretty in pink, very vanilla, and Lap of Luxury DSP (ret.), ink-concord crush, pretty in pink, and basic gray, stamp sets-Just Believe and Fabulous Phrases, accessories-very vanilla 5/8" satin ribbon, 1 3/8" circle punch

Word Play

I've been MIA last week on posting, mostly due to other priorities... But, now I'm prepared for my class taking place this weekend and had some time to play today before grilling, fireworks, and smores!! I love July 4th! My card today is based on the sketch challenge at Sketches by Carly. I flipped the sketch on it's side and used some of my hoarded SU buttons (I'm so bad at this!!) to create a birthday card. I just realized that this also fits another challenge, so I'm entering this in Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge to use buttons!

Card Recipe: cardstock-old olive, whisper white, daffodil delight, pacific point, ink-melon mambo, daffodil delight, various markers, stamp sets-word play and cupcakes wheel, accessories, ice cream parlor ribbon and buttons (ret.), linen thread,3/4" circle punch
